Online 09:30 - 11:30
This workshop will explore how Speech and Language Therapists can engage with research alongside their usual clinical practice. Hear from three speakers who will share how they have become involved in research, quality improvement and service evaluation projects as part of their clinical roles - without funding or protected research time.
We’ll then move into breakout rooms to discuss the challenges of getting involved in research, share practical ideas and experiences, and explore how we can make research part of our everyday clinical practice.
Come along to learn, share and network with others interested in getting involved in research.
Speakers
Kate Kunze is a Speech and Language Therapist with the Community Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (CTLD), a multidisciplinary team providing specialist support to adults with learning disabilities.
As part of a quality improvement project, Kate helped develop the team’s Communication Advice and Resources Drop-in Sessions, offering proactive support to people awaiting 1:1 speech and language therapy. The sessions provide practical advice and co-produced communication resources for clients and their carers, helping to bridge the gap while they wait for therapy and improve the experience of both patients and carers.
In this session, Kate will discuss the process of developing and evaluating this new service model through the lens of quality improvement.
