Privacy Policy

Thank you for using "NOAA Weather Radar & Alerts Live" ("the App"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App on iOS and Android.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require account registration and we do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information for our own customer database. However, depending on how you use the App, the following information may be processed:
- Location data. If you grant location permission, the App reads your device's approximate or precise coordinates to center the radar map on your position and to request the weather, precipitation and air quality data for that area. Coordinates are used at the moment of the request and are not stored on our servers.
- Locations you save or search. City names and coordinates that you add to your saved locations or type into search are kept on your device.
- App preferences. Your chosen interface language, units, selected map layers and onboarding state are kept on your device.
- Subscription and purchase data. When you buy or restore a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple or Google and validated through our subscription provider, Adapty. We receive the subscription status, product identifier and an anonymous app-installation identifier. We never receive your payment card details.
- Technical and diagnostic data. Device model, operating system version, app version, locale and anonymous identifiers may be processed by our service providers to deliver content, validate purchases and diagnose errors.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information only to provide and improve the App's features. Specifically, we use it to:
- Show the animated precipitation radar, wind and temperature maps for the area you are viewing
- Deliver the hurricane and storm tracker and severe weather layers
- Show the air quality index for your location
- Provide RainScope minute-by-minute precipitation nowcasts
- Provide the 14-day forecast, snow depth and other forecast details
- Store and sync your saved locations on your device
- Determine whether you have an active Premium subscription and unlock the corresponding features
- Restore your purchases across reinstalls and devices linked to the same store account
- Diagnose crashes and technical problems and improve the stability of the App
The App is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA, the National Weather Service, or any other government agency, and it uses their publicly available data only as a source of weather information.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing, subscription management and purchase restoration
- Adapty — subscription state management, paywall delivery and purchase validation
- Expo — application framework and update delivery
- Open-Meteo — weather forecast, geocoding and air quality data
- RainViewer — precipitation radar imagery
- OpenWeather — weather map tiles
- NASA GIBS — satellite imagery layers
- NOAA National Hurricane Center — hurricane and tropical storm tracks
- Apple MapKit (iOS) and Google Maps (Android) — base map rendering
Weather providers receive the coordinates of the area being displayed in order to return data for it. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertising networks.
4. Data Storage
Your saved locations, preferences and onboarding state are stored locally on your device using the device's local storage. We do not operate our own servers and we do not maintain a database of App users. Data held by third-party services is stored on their infrastructure and retained according to their own policies. Uninstalling the App removes all data stored locally on your device.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information processed by the App. All network requests are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Please note that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at KallumDanielBrooks@icloud.com and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to that processing or request its portability. Because the App stores your data locally, you can delete it at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App. You may revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. 8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or in applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
