What Does Climate Justice Mean to You?

The Contest:

Submit a video about climate justice. Be creative. Feel free to use graphics, music, photos, art work. Spanish language videos are welcome (with English subtitles).

Contest Prompt:

What does climate justice mean to you and how does it impact you, and others, locally and/or nationally and/or globally?

Prizes:

First Place: $150

Second and Third Place prizes will be awarded.

Eligibility:

Any Truckee/Tahoe area high school student may enter.

Guiding questions to stimulate thought but not be limited by:

• How does climate change affect groups of people differently and disparately, locally and/or nationally and/or globally?

• Do you see efforts or solutions for achieving climate justice?

• Have you been part of or do you plan to be a part of these efforts or solutions? If so, how?

• Is there a person or group that inspires you to work on climate justice?

Submission deadline: May 20th

• Winners will be announced on or about May 31st

Contest rules & judging criteria:

Video length: 3 minutes or less

Judging Criteria: Each of these factors will be given equal weight.

Engagement

Did the video capture the viewer’s interest? Did the viewer want to keep watching the video to the end? Did the entrant speak clearly and comfortably?

Illumination

Did the video explain the subject matter clearly, allowing the viewer to develop a genuine understanding of the video’s content? Did the video demonstrate a rigorous dive into the subject matter?

Creativity

Did the entrant make an effort to approach the subject matter in an innovative or creative way?

Added bonus: A part of every video will be used to produce a video montage that will be shared with the Truckee/North Tahoe community. Please print out and sign the video release form, if you are 18 years or older, or have your parent/guardian sign, if you are under 18 years. Then scan or photograph it and submit it with your video.
