Dr. Kironmala Chanda is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India. She has extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. Her research focuses on hydroclimatic extremes, terrestrial water balance and statistical and data-driven modelling. Dr. Chanda has guided multiple PhD and master’s students and has taught a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses, including Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources Engineering, Hydroclimatology, and Research Methodology. She has also held several key administrative roles at both departmental and institute levels, including Faculty-in-Charge of Academic Affairs (UG), Vice-Chairperson of the Career Development Centre, and Warden of the girl's hostel. Dr. Chanda completed her undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata and earned her M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees from IIT Kharagpur, where she graduated with top academic distinctions. Prior to her academic career, she gained industry experience as an Assistant Systems Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services. She has an active publication record and international research exposure through academic collaborations and fellowships.
