I am a freshman at Georgia State University and over the past couple of months, I have been researching and exploring the topic of climate change for my English class. As you may already know, or soon will learn, climate change is a very important and divisive topic. Even after all the material I've read on climate change either by myself or for my class, I still feel my knowledge of the topic is inadequate.
Before starting college I volunteered with AmeriCorps and I worked at an elementary school in Washington D.C. as a reading tutor. While reading material on climate projections I often thought of the children I taught and how they will have to deal with the effects of climate change in the future. For my final project, I wanted to dress climate change through my experience as an educator.
In this audio podcast, I discuss with first-grade teacher at Fernbank Elementary Becky Vaughan. We will discuss climate change, how it's taught in our schools, and what kind of education we need to address climate change.
