Amber Fitzgerald, MA, BCBA, is the Director of Educational Initiatives at the UC Davis MIND Institute. She holds a Master's degree in Special Education, an Education Specialist teaching credential for students with extensive support needs, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, with over 30 years of experience working with neurodiverse individuals and their families across a range of settings.
Amber also serves as Executive Coordinator of CAPTAIN (California Autism Professional Training and Information Network), a statewide network of providers, family members, and educators delivering high-quality training and coaching across California. In this role, she leads strategic planning, funding and partnership development, and day-to-day coordination of CAPTAIN's regional infrastructure.
Amber develops meaningful, engaging curricula for providers and educators, and designs training and coaching grounded in implementation science to support real-world adoption of evidence-based practices. She is a certified trainer for Classroom Pivotal Response Teaching and Project ImPACT, a parent-coaching early intervention program. As a member of the MIND Institute ECHO team, she helps connect autism experts with providers in remote areas through tele-mentoring.
Amber also coordinates training for the PATH Program (Promoting Accessibility to Healthcare), which prepares medical residents and providers to deliver inclusive, accessible care to patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, alongside the Medical Module Course on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the Community — a partnership between the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and the UC Davis School of Medicine. Her work on PATH includes developing and delivering training materials and resources that equip providers with practical, patient-centered strategies for supporting this population.
For over 30 years, Amber has been committed to partnering with and empowering individuals with disabilities and their families, working to ensure they have a sense of belonging and access to the services they need to reach their goals.
