Join the Clermont Band!
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Students in 5th and 6th grade can receive instruction on a band instrument of their choice regardless of their previous music experience. These instruments include the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. The form to sign up is a google form on the Clermont Music webpage.
It usually takes one year for a child to make measurable progress in the band program, and it is expected that all students enrolling in the band program will remain in band for the entire year. Band will continue to be available to your child through the 12th grade as well as opportunities in band ensembles including marching and jazz band. You will play a key role in the success of your child’s music development as you provide encouragement and help to establish a routine of practicing on the instrument. Learning to play an instrument and belonging in an ensemble benefits children academically and socially. In addition to learning about music, the students will learn self-discipline, group cooperation, problem solving, goal setting, self-expression and memory skills. These are all valuable qualities that are important in every aspect of life.
There is no tuition fee for these music lessons. For your child to participate, it will be necessary for you to provide your own instrument and accessories. I advise parents not to purchase an instrument until they have a few years of experience because there are different levels of instruments. If your child is playing an inherited or purchased instrument, I can inspect it and make sure it is set up for your child to have a successful experience on that instrument. If you need help renting an instrument, please free to reach out to me and I can provide assistance.
Students who receive free or reduced-price lunch can rent an instrument (flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion) from the school for the low price of $20 for the whole year.
