Fairfax County Public Schools provides musical instruments for students who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals.  If your child qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, refer to Category D on the attached Music Instrument Contract.  Students may choose between violin or viola. A maintenance fee of $20 per school year is charged for Category D instruments.  

Please make sure to fill in the top section of the contract and sign the contract in two places: First in the Category D box, which confirms that your child has applied and qualifies for free or reduced-priced meals, and again at the bottom of the contract.

Once the contract has been completed, send it along with your $20.00 fee in a sealed envelope, to your orchestra director.  Please make sure to clearly write your child’s name on the envelope.  (Checks must be made out to your child’s elementary school.) After the fee and completed contract have been received, the instruments will be ordered and given to your student by their first strings class.
