But what about a Cleo Sol solo album? Well here is the answer to that question in a poorly constructed and disappointment filled sentence. Mother starts strong, but after an hour of the same sedate pace, unadventurous production and bland instrumentation, I was done. Sure I appreciate a Stevie Wonder meets Minnie Riperton meets Sugababes borderline sentimental piano soul-ballad as much as the next guy, but a whole album of them?

Heaven is the third full-length studio album by British soul singer Cleo Sol, released on 15 September 2023 through Forever Living Originals.[2] The album was announced days before its release.[3]

Editors at NPR Music included this among the 50 best albums of 2023.[8] Editors at The Fader chose this as the 14th best album of the year.[9] Editors at Clash Music listed this the 19th best albums of the year.[10] Editors at AllMusic included this among their favorite R&B albums of 2023.[11]

In Billboard, Carl Lamarre chose the best new hip hop and R&B tracks of the week, including "Miss Romantic", which he calls "an honest self-talk about overcoming a broken romance" on an album that includes "soul-stirring takes on love, motherhood and self-assurance [which] ring true".[12] Writing for The Complex UK, James Keith called Sol's previous albums Rose in the Dark and Mother "titanic masterpieces" and considers this release their peer that continues the "stunning partnership" with Inflo;[13] that publication later listed this as the fifth-best album of the year.[14] The American Complex chose this as the 30th best album of 2023.[15]

Go! is the third studio album by the alternative rock band Letters to Cleo.[3][4] It was released in 1997 on Revolution Records.[5] It was their first album without their original drummer, Stacy Jones, who was replaced by Tom Polce.[6]

Trouser Press called the album "effective and likable," writing that "Hanley explores the titular theme of dispatching an ex, singing her disillusioned and bitter lyrics ... with conviction and power against loud rock-pop that reaches its apogee in the nearly Breeders-like surge of 'Anchor'."[10] The Orange County Register considered it "nothing special, each song an imitation of standard alternative music this decade without adding anything new to the mix."[11]

Cleo Sol has been an inspiring artist in the R&B cosmos since her debut studio album in 2020. Sol does an admirable job of combining early soul inspirations from the 80s and 90s with current trends and sounds, sometimes reminiscent of Solange. Much of the 80s and 90s inspiration comes from the vocals, and the incorporation with nondiegetic sounds of birds and nature. All of this comes together to create a tempered album with a lot of instrumental energy.

Nonetheless, they are remarkable performances of one of Mid-Missouri's most notable old-time fiddlers, Cleo Persinger. Cleo is accompanied by his wife Lillian, who played with a thumb pick on a big Gibson guitar in the sort of minimalist style that was predominant at contests and dances in Central Missouri in the 1950's through 1980's.

Persinger was a contemporary of the young Texas "Shorty" Chancellor who allegedly once visited Cleo at his home in Midway, just west of Coumbia. Cleo won the National Fiddle Championship at Weiser, ID, in 1962. $(".tralbum-about").last().bcTruncate(TruncateProfile.get("tralbum_about"), "more", "less"); credits released March 7, 2018

It was released on March 3, 1999 with "Good Time" and "Only When You Love Me" serving as the double title tracks.

The songstress is the gift that keeps on giving and each project is as compelling as the last: this is her second studio album this year and has been released just two weeks after her latest project, Heaven.

Gold is another body of work that feels like peace and sounds like healing. With a voice that can only be described as heaven-sent, she stuns again. The album is 10 tracks long and filled with soul-stirring songs, ethereal vocals and moving lyrics. The stripped-back production is adorned with beautiful instrumental performances. Cleo traverses topics of love, self-belief, growth, inspiration and faith through the uplifting lens of her music.

Kay Hanley began her career in music as the lead singer of Boston-based alternative rock band Letters to Cleo, releasing 3 acclaimed albums between 1990-2000, and spawning such hits as Awake and Here and Now.

In 2002, Hanley released her first full length solo album, Cherry Marmalade, produced by longtime Cleo producer, Mike Denneen at Q Division Studios in Boston. The record has recently been remastered for a double album 20th anniversary vinyl re-release.

With an aim to uplift, it is clear why she chose Rose in The Dark as the song for which the album is named after: the track has a nostalgic feel, with a flowing beat and sweet vocals that are as comforting as a spoonful of honey.

Sol grew up in a musical family passionate about reggae, jazz, and Motown. This upbringing weaves itself into the DNA of her album, which grounds itself in the sounds of 1970s jazz and old school soul. Like in her 2018 EP Winter Songs and 2019 singles One and Sweet Blue, this album is wonderfully mellow. Her voice has a timeless quality, as if it could be born out of any decade. 17dc91bb1f
