In 2008 Debbie moved her mother, age 79, and father, age 84, from their home of 41 years to a continuing care retirement community in Macon GA. She'd never done anything like this before and like most people she made mistakes. It was definitely a learning experience.

Her parents grew up during the Great Depression, which made it hard for them to part with things that were not a true necessity. Debbie realized it was easier for them to dispose of things while she was sitting with them. However, as their daughter Debbie found herself emotionally involved with them, and all their possessions so it was hard for her also to let go or to tell them to let go. She certainly did not realize how emotionally draining it was going to be for all of them. Or the time it was going to take.

After her parents’ move was complete, she realized others were undoubtedly enduring similar experiences. It was then she realized she wanted to pursue senior relocation as a career. She knew she could help to alleviate other's stress and soften the emotional challenges that come along with these situations.
