ClearThought (“we”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the ClearThought mobile application (the “App”).

1. Information We Collect

The App is built with a local-first philosophy. We do not require account registration, and we only collect the minimum information necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the App.

• Audio Recordings & Voice Data: Audio recordings are created only when you explicitly start a recording session. These files are stored locally on your device. Audio data is temporarily transmitted via secure channels to a third-party AI service solely for real-time transcription and processing. We do not store or retain your audio recordings on our servers.

• Text Content: Text transcripts and summaries are generated from your voice recordings. All generated, edited, and formatted content remains stored locally on your device. We do not access, view, or retain your notes on external servers.

• Device Information (Non-Personally Identifiable): We may automatically collect non-personally identifiable technical details, including:

  • Device model and hardware specifications

  • Operating system version

  • App version and build number

  • System language, region, and screen resolution

  • Anonymous crash logs and diagnostic data

  • Pseudonymous or randomized internal identifiers strictly for crash reporting and app stability monitoring (not used for cross-app advertising tracking)

• Usage Data (Anonymous Analytics / Telemetry): We collect aggregated, anonymous telemetry regarding your interactions with the App (such as feature usage frequency, session events, and navigation flows). All usage data is anonymized and used exclusively to diagnose performance issues and improve product functionality.

• Information You Provide Voluntarily: If you contact us directly via email or our official support channels, we may collect the details you provide (such as your name, email address, and message content). This data is used solely to resolve your issue and is never used for advertising or shared with unauthorized third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information strictly for the following purposes:

• Core Product Functionality: Transcribing audio input, applying user-selected structural formats, and rendering notes within the App.

• Performance & Reliability: Analyzing crash reports, identifying bugs, and ensuring compatibility across device models and OS updates.

• Product Improvement: Evaluating aggregated, anonymous feature usage patterns to optimize user experience and workflow design.

• User Support: Responding to support inquiries, feedback, and technical troubleshooting requests.

Your data is never sold, rented, or used for cross-site tracking, user profiling, or behavioral advertising.

3. Third-Party AI & Infrastructure Services

• Third-Party AI Processing: The App uses enterprise-grade AI models (such as Google Gemini AI) to process audio and generate formatted text. Transmission occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections for one-time real-time processing only. No voice or text input is retained by us after processing.

• Third-Party Policies: Processing by external AI infrastructure is subject to the provider’s applicable enterprise terms and privacy standards (e.g., Google Privacy Policy).

4. Data Storage and Security

• Local-First Storage: All your generated notes, edits, and audio recordings remain locally on your physical device. We do not maintain remote user databases or cloud repositories for your personal content.

• User Control & Deletion: You retain complete control to delete notes or audio recordings inside the App at any time.

• System Backups: If you utilize platform-level cloud backups (such as Apple iCloud or iTunes/Finder backup), your local app data may be included under Apple's standard security policies.

• App Uninstallation: Deleting the App permanently erases all locally stored content from your device. We cannot recover deleted data.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information via direct support channels, please contact us for immediate deletion.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / Global Compliance)

Because your notes and audio recordings are stored solely on your local device, we do not hold personal content to export, rectify, or delete on our backend. For any telemetry logs or support correspondence retained:

• You have the right to request deletion of support-related emails and inquiries.

• You may opt out of device-level diagnostics or analytics through your standard operating system privacy settings.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, app updates, or legal compliance requirements. Any revisions will be indicated by the "Last updated" date above and published within the App and its distribution store listing.
