Introduction
CleanView ("we," "our," or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how CleanView handles information when you use our browser extension.
Information We Collect
CleanView does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or browsing data. Period.
Specifically, we do not collect:
Browsing history or visited URLs
Personal identification information (name, email, address, etc.)
Website content you view or interact with
Search queries or form data
Passwords or credentials
Cookies or tracking identifiers
IP addresses or location data
Usage statistics or analytics
Any other personal or non-personal data
How CleanView Works
CleanView operates entirely within your local browser environment:
When you activate CleanView on a webpage, the extension reads the page structure to identify elements like headers, sidebars, and footers
It temporarily hides these elements from view by modifying the page's display properties
All processing happens locally on your device
No data leaves your browser
When you turn CleanView off or close the tab, no trace of the session remains
Data Storage
The only information stored is:
Local preference state: Whether CleanView is currently "on" or "off" for display purposes in the extension button. This is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and is never transmitted anywhere.
This minimal storage allows the extension button to show the correct text ("Turn On" or "Turn Off"). No other data is stored.
Third-Party Services
CleanView does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external servers.
Permissions Explained
CleanView requests the following permissions solely for functionality:
activeTab: Allows the extension to read and modify the visual appearance of the webpage you're currently viewing when you click the extension button
storage: Stores your on/off toggle state locally in your browser
scripting: Enables the extension to inject code that hides page elements
Host permissions (<all_urls>): Allows CleanView to work on any website you choose to use it on
These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's core functionality and never for data collection.
Children's Privacy
CleanView does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data at all, the extension is safe for users of all ages.
Your Rights
Since CleanView does not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete. You maintain complete control over the extension:
You can disable it at any time
You can uninstall it completely, which removes all local preferences
Your browsing remains completely private
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Security
Because CleanView operates entirely locally and collects no data, there is no risk of data breaches, unauthorized access, or data leaks. Your information cannot be compromised because it is never accessed or stored.
