2. App Permissions and Their Purpose

Clean Sync requests permissions strictly related to its core functions. Permissions are triggered only by user actions, such as tapping features on the Home screen. We do not access data silently or without user interaction.

android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
This permission is requested when you tap related features on the Home screen on devices running Android 10 and below. It allows Clean Sync to read files stored in external storage so the app can scan files properly for cleaning and organisation purposes.

android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
This permission is requested when you use Home screen features on Android 10 and below that involve file cleaning or management. It allows the app to write to and remove unnecessary files from external storage as part of user-initiated actions.

android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
On devices running Android 11 and above, this permission is requested when you tap Home screen file management features. It allows Clean Sync to manage files across external storage in line with Android system requirements.

android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS
On Android 13 and above, this permission is requested the first time you enter the splash screen. It is not requested again when entering the Home screen. This allows Clean Sync to send optional notifications such as important service updates. Notifications are never used for spam.

android.permission.PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS
When you clean junk files and choose to view app cache size, this permission is requested on Android 6 and above. It allows the app to access application usage information so cache and unused data can be identified accurately.

android.permission.GET_PACKAGE_SIZE
This permission is not requested from the user. It applies only to Android versions below 6 and allows the system to provide information about other app sizes where supported.

android.permission.REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES
This permission does not require user approval. It is used only when you choose to uninstall other apps and allows Clean Sync to assist with the uninstall process.

android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE
This permission does not require manual approval. It allows the app to create foreground services so user-initiated tasks can run safely without interruption.

android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE
On Android 14 and above, this permission is declared to comply with system rules for special-purpose foreground services required by the app’s core functionality.

Clean Sync does not access files, app data, or system information without your explicit interaction, and permissions are never used for unrelated purposes.
