Christian Life Community

Resources for Small Groups

CLC stands for Christian Life Community. CLCs are small faith sharing groups that are based on three pillars: community, spirituality, and service. We follow the inspiration of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Thus, we are part of a worldwide body of small faith communities, present in almost 60 countries around the world.

We envision CLC as a way of living out God’s dream and call for each one of us: to love God, our neighbors, and ourselves (Lk 10:25-37). Our mission is to provide a place for members to build community and support one another to grow in friendship, faith, and service.

Friends in the Lord

“Abide in me as I abide in you”- John 15:4

Fired by the Ignatian Vision, we imagine that a deep desire shapes and guides our becoming. At the heart of who we are, the passion fuels our yearning for a deep sense of self, connection, and mission. Fullness of life involves harnessing the fire.

CLC, as “school of the heart”, helps to elicit, befriend, and focus this passion. This entails honest and heartfelt conversations with Jesus in prayers and with one another in a dialogue that engages the world in its present circumstances. This school helps us to get the heart of the matter through transparency, vulnerability, and trust.

We in CLC are “friends in the Lord," a community that helps one another discover and live out our personal vocations. Together, we seek holistic ways of living in relationship with God that integrate community, spirituality, and service.

Our logo (above) depicts this hope. We strive to build a community of friends in the Lord, find God in all things, and become a person with and for others.

Sent on Christ’s Mission

In the Western Region Logo, we imagine the letters from the logo of the worldwide movement being surrounded by a contemporized Ignatian outburst. The “P” over the “X” stands for the Greek “Christus”. The inserted “M” illustrates the patronage of Mary, the mother and closest disciple of Jesus. We open ourselves to the spiritual rays of God’s love that shine forth in each person, forming a link among our rich human diversity and signifying our claim to community. The rays reaching outward depict our communal call of a faith that does justice, always in service with and for others.
