Chancellor Livingston

Chapter, NSDAR

Rhinebeck, New York

Welcome!

The Chancellor Livingston Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) welcomes you!

Founded in 1890, NSDAR is a non-profit organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Since the organization's founding, over one million women have joined!

Our chapter is located in the historic village of Rhinebeck, in beautiful Dutchess County, New York, where we own and care for the General Richard and Janet (Livingston) Montgomery house, now operated as a museum. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds but share a profound desire to honor the sacrifices of our Patriot ancestors.

If you think you have a Patriot ancestor, we would love to have you join us. Our chapter registrar will be happy to help with your application!  To get started, simply send us an email.

Patriotism

Chapter members take an active role in patriotic service by collecting and delivering donations to fill the needs of veterans and others in our community. We write and send cards to veterans, and we participate in parades, America 250! activities and other patriotic events.

Education

We assist visitors with genealogy research. We provide scholarships to local high school students with an interest in American history.

Other education-related services include school visits, local history presentations, and genealogy workshops.

Historic Preservation

Chapter members support preservation of historic buildings, monuments, and cemeteries, taking special care of our Chapter House museum and its exhibits

We even give museum tours in period costumes for local students!
