Prerequisites
Most college-level classes at CLC require one or more prerequisites before registration can occur. Click on the situation that is appropriate for you.

These proficiencies can be met through a variety of student records or test scores. Click on the proficiency you're looking to meet for more information on acceptable documentation.
If you are looking to take a class with a specific course prerequisite (or college-level math prerequisite)...
Complete and return the Prerequisite Verification from Prior College Coursework. You can send this to Records@clcillinois.edu along with a copy of your unofficial transcript. Please make sure your name, the school’s name, and classes/grades are clearly visible.
Transferring Credits from Another College/University
Request your official transcripts to be sent to the Records Department at 19351 West Washington St., Grayslake, IL 60030. If you are requesting electronic transcripts and they need an email address, please use Records@clcillinois.edu. Remember, if the transcripts are sent to you and then forwarded to us, they are no longer considered official.
Complete and return the Request for Evaluation of Prior College. You can send this directly to Records@clcillinois.edu or drop it off in person at the Grayslake Campus Welcome and One Stop Center (B114).
Wait to hear back from Records. It could take several weeks to transfer in credits, and the Records team will email you to your student email account when your evaluation is complete.
International Transcript Evaluations
The CLC Records Department will not evaluate international transcripts. To transfer international credit to CLC, you must get a catalog match evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluation company. An official (unopened) copy of the evaluation should be sent directly to Records at 19351 West Washington St., Grayslake, IL 60030.

International high school transcripts do not need a Catalog Match evaluation, but must be evaluated by a NACES approved evaluator. Go to http://www.naces.org/members.html for a list of evaluators.

High School Transcripts
For most programs, your unofficial transcript can be used and sent directly to Registration Services.
If your program requires an official high school transcript or proof of graduation, request your official transcripts to be sent to Registration Services at 19351 West Washington St., Grayslake, IL 60030. If you are requesting electronic transcripts and they need an email address, please use Admissions@clcillinois.edu. Remember, if the transcripts are sent to you and then forwarded to us, they are no longer considered official.
ACT Scores
Access your ACT scores by logging into the ACT website. If you are unable to retrieve your login information using the "forgot username/password" links, try contacting ACT Customer Care at (319) 337-1270. You can send a PDF or screenshot with your scores to Registration Services as long as your name, test date, and scores are clearly visible.
SAT Scores
Access your SAT scores by logging into the College Board website. If you are unable to retrieve your login information using the "forgot username/password" links, try contacting Account Help at (866) 315-6068. You can send a PDF or screenshot with your scores to Registration Services as long as your name, test date, and scores are clearly visible.
Placement Testing
Click on the placement test you wish to take to find out more.
English Placement Assessment
Once you have your student ID number, you can complete the English Placement Assessment, which is available when you login to your student portal on the left side under your Launchpad. If you are trying for College Reading & Writing Readiness, make sure to select the third option when it asks you to choose an English class so you can continue with the written portion of the exam. It will take the English department up to three business days to grade your assessment, and they will email you when they have done so.
Math Placement Test
The ALEKS (math) test and study modules are available when you login to your student portal on the left side under your Launchpad. You can take the math test unproctored up to three times, and we will use the highest score to meet your math requirement.
GED Transcript and Scores
To get your official GED transcript...
Please request your GED scores to be sent to Registration Services at 19351 West Washington St., Grayslake, IL 60030. If you are requesting electronic transcripts and they need an email address, please use Admissions@clcillinois.edu. You can request your GED transcript with scores from the Lake County Regional Office of Education HERE.
If you received your GED outside of Lake County, check with the Regional of Education for the county you received your GED in.

AP Credit

Challenge Exams
CLC offers its own challenge exams for students who possess prior knowledge of a subject area in a specific course. Challenge exams are not available for all courses and are offered at the discretion of the academic division. Learn more about Challenge Exams.
Industry-Specific Credentials
Certain disciplines such as criminal justice, fire science, surgical technology and automotive, will accept some industry specific certifications to evaluate and award academic credit. Some credentials have been evaluated previously and correspond to specific CLC classes; please review the preapproved credentials list for more details. Other credentials can be reviewed by the academic divisions and may require meeting with a CLC faculty member. Learn more about credential review.
