Nominated for major Italian awards like the Conad Jazz Contest during Umbria Jazz’s 25th anniversary and “Premio Nazionale delle Arti, Claudio Palana is a forward-thinking jazz pianist based in Hamburg.
Born in Messina, Palana started playing piano at a young age and, by the time he was 18, enrolled in an early entrance degree program at Messina’s Conservatorio “A. Corelli”, thanks to his gifted talent. Multi-instrumentalist, Palana has multiple degrees in Piano, Guitar, Arranging, and Composing, counting numerous teachers with important artistic weight such as Kevin Hays, Giovanni Mazzarino, Mauro Schiavone, Marvi La Spina, Matteo Sabattini, and many more.
As a leader, sideman, or guest he has plagued in various international jazz festivals and clubs such as Birdland, Cotton Club, Indra Musikclub, Brückenstern, Umbria Jazz, Sicilia Jazz Fest, Filarmonica Laudamo, Puntalazzo Jazz, Polignano a Mare International Jazz Fest, Lune di Jazz, and Riflessuoni.
He shared the stage and recorded with worldly famed and multi-awarded musicians like Javier Girotto, Orazio Maugeri, Alessandro Presti, Giacomo Aula, Giuseppe Tringali, Nicola Caminiti, Carmelo Coglitore, Giovanni and Matteo Cutello, and Jerry Tilitz.
Palana has released several albums, including Sea Connection Trio’s debut album in 2022, AQUA, released by AlfaMusic.
