Claudia Roberta Combei is a tenure-track Assistant Professor (RTT Researcher) in Linguistics at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Pisa, where she specialized in phonetics, corpus linguistics, and NLP. She defended a doctoral dissertation on human perception and computational processing of foreign-accented speech. From 2018 to 2021 she worked at the University of Bologna, as a Post-Doc Researcher, Teaching Tutor, and NLP Lab Manager. Until January 2025, she worked as a Junior Assistant Professor (RTD-A Researcher) in Linguistics at the University of Pavia.

Claudia Roberta Combei adopts a mixed-method approach in her research, combining computational, quantitative and qualitative techniques. Some of her recent publications include articles on figurative language, political and (social) media discourse, multimodality, and phonetics and phonology.
She coordinates (with Francesca Masini and Silvia Ballarè) the RadioCast-It speech corpus and she has participated in several funded projects: Progetto di Eccellenza "DIVE-IN Diversità & Inclusione" (initiative "Dipartimenti di Eccellenza" MIUR [L. 232 del 01/12/2016]) at the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (University of Bologna); UNA Europa Project “Challenges to European Identities and Values in Digital Communities – CEIVINDICO” (initiative UNA Europa Seed Funding); Progetto PON D.M. 1062/2021 "ICT & Innovation: Il ruolo della fonetica sperimentale nello sviluppo e nell’implementazione di tecnologie vocali" (initiative "PON D.M. 1062/2021 - linea Innovazione" ), at the Department of Humanities (University of Pavia).
