At this time there is no cure for the 55 million people who are losing their memory and experiencing paranoia, frustration, anger, depression, fear, etc due to Alzheimer's and Dementia.
They can require a care worker or might have to go to a home as the condition progresses. They also might need medication to ease symptoms of mood swings and depression. These are not always available even when needed, as seen by the 1.2 million direct care workers needed to keep up with the 100,000 new cases each year.
Those who know someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia, especially the person caring for them don't always have the education, resources, and facilities to cope with the stress and grief from knowing someone with these conditions and to care for them properly. The family and friends of those with Dementia and Alzheimer's are far more than the 55 million who have the conditions, showing a great need for these resources to be supported and developed.
