UCF Classification & Decision Lab

The Classification & Decision Lab at UCF focuses on basic and applied research into how people learn to categorize elements of their environment (e.g., diagnostic judgments) and how they make decisions. A long-term goal is to understand these cognitive behaviors well enough to apply our understanding to improve performance in complex, real-world environments.

Our research has implications for the design of interactive technologies and for developing more effective training methods. Research topics in the lab center on Applied Cognitive Science, Cognitive Engineering, and Clinical-Cognitive Science.

The lab emphasizes the use of computational cognitive modeling and mobile neuroimaging using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), as well as augmented & virtual reality.
