Class 12 History Project

Welcome to the CBSE History Project website. This project will involve individual research, analysis, teamwork, technology, design skills, and communication, and will involve several steps over the entire academic session. The goals for this project are that each student will:

• Research and analyze the important events and issues involving their area of study.
• Write an analytical, conclusive, academic paper suggesting and supporting the most important of those developments
• Collaborate effectively with a team of students, in person and through web-based technology, to create a group presentation of their findings in the area of their research.

Project Steps

1st Step:

Each student will select a specific historical period and team, and will research his or her historical period on internet and in print, analyzing sources for academic validity. Students will need to bring a list of findings gathered from at least 3 separate academic sources.

2nd Step:

Students will meet their teammates to brainstorm all important findings from their assigned historical period, and to decide on the most important developments to feature in their project presentation. Students will also determine individual responsibilities for the team portion of the project and will review information on determining the validity of sources.

3rd Step:

Each student will begin the writing process for an individual academic paper of at least 3000 words, not counting their "Works Cited" page. The paper must support their choice for the historical concept/period/development under study. Students must write an outline and a rough draft for submission prior to writing the final paper. The draft should be typed on a Google Doc and shared with your teacher. Note: See "Project Dates" for important dates!

4th Step:

Individual research papers submitted to the teacher.

5th Step:

Teams of students will meet to begin to develop their presentation according to roles established in their group.

6th Step:

Students will provide feedback to their own group and to other project groups on their research so far. Teachers will also provide feedback to groups. Groups will revise and improve project presentation as needed.

7th Step:

Groups will submit their final project file and presentation for grading. Grading will be done on both an individual and group basis.
