Class XL of Tempe Leadership is raising funds to support Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. Together, we’re helping pets and people in need by creating lasting improvements for this incredible organization. Lost Our Home supports pets and their people through adoption, temporary care, and pet food bank programs. Your support helps improve their resources and makes a direct impact on their mission to help pets in need.
Programs:
Adoptable Pets Program: A no-kill shelter finding loving homes for pets.
Pet Food Bank: Providing food and supplies to pets for up to six months, with spay/neuter services included.
Temporary Care Program: Offering up to four months of care for pets belonging to individuals in crisis, such as those experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, or medical challenges.
Tempe First Responders Program: Allowing first responders 24/7 access to shelter resources for emergency situations.
One of the greatest challenges they face is meeting the demand for their Temporary Care Program, which currently accepts only 11% of applicants due to resource limitations. This underscores the need for increased capacity to serve pets and people in crisis.
Primary Project Goals
Our main focus is to remodel and upgrade Lost Our Home’s laundry facilities. This project will directly improve the shelter’s ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for the pets in their care.
Scope of Work:
Install a new industrial washer and dryer with a capacity of over 50 lbs.
Relocate existing laundry machines to a new area within the building.
Remove a wall to expand the current laundry room.
Provide a facelift with fresh paint and minor updates to improve functionality and appearance. This will be the “Sweat Equity” component of the project.
Estimated Budget: $25,000
Industrial washer and dryer: $15,000–$18,000 (purchase and installation).
Wall removal and room expansion: $5,000–$7,000.
Basic updates (paint, flooring, etc.): $1,000–$2,000.
Impact:
Lost Our Home’s current laundry machines are dated, frequently break down, and have a low capacity. This creates delays in maintaining cleanliness, which is essential for the pets’ health and well-being. Upgrading the laundry facilities will:
Improve efficiency and reliability, saving time and effort for staff and volunteers.
Ensure the shelter can handle higher volumes of bedding and linens.
Provide a cleaner and healthier environment for the pets in their care.
