In Worcester alone, out of the 172k people that live here, 33k live below the poverty line. That is nearly 20% of all Worcester residents who live below the poverty line. The exact 19.2% that is below the line is still 7% more than the national average of 12.8%.
Why show the data: The data is to show that according to these graphs, 1 out of every five people in Worcester suffers from poverty in some way. We also show the data because people are bliss from what they can't see and without evidence to support the claim, very few will matters such as this seriously.
When you think about it like that, it doesn't seem that uncommon now does it?
