ClashSiren is a dub siren app based on Jamaican sound system culture. The history of the dub siren is interesting and worth researching. Essentially a dub siren would be used during sound clashes to build hype between records.
The app features four main parameters to change the sound.
Features
- An oscillator which will play a square or sawtooth wave
- A switch to change the pitch up or down one octave
- The ability to change the LFO rate from slow to fast
- The ability to change the shape of the LFO from a square wave to a triangle wave
You can trigger the sound by pressing the button.
Within the settings of the app there is an extra switch, the Dub FX switch, that will apply a mix of reverb and delay to the sound which gives a more authentic sound.
I hope people actually use this app during their DJ sets or sound clashes. If you can plug your phone into one of the spare channels on your mixer you now have a dub siren. This is also why I gave users the option to turn FX on or off. With ClashSiren you can keep a dry sound and on your mixer apply your own reverb and delays to taste as well as apply the levels of those affects in real time.
