Age Requirements for Enrollment

At the Portuguese School of Clark, we want to ensure that every child enters the appropriate grade level based on their age and developmental stage. Below are the age requirements for our Kindergarten/Pre-Escola and 1st Grade programs:

Kindergarten/Pre-Escola (Ages 5-6)

• Age Requirement: Students must be 5 or 6 years old before October 1st, 2025 to enter Kindergarten/Pre-Escola.
  
  

• Important Note: If your child is 5 years old at the time of enrollment, they will spend two years in Kindergarten.
  
  

1st Grade (Age 7)

• Age Requirement: Students must be 7 years old before October 1st, 2025 to enter 1st Grade, regardless of whether they are currently in 1st grade at an American school.
  
  

Attendance Policy

• Students may miss no more than 5 classes per school year.

• Regular attendance is essential for academic success.

• We ask families to communicate absences in advance whenever possible.

Snack Policy

• Snack break is around 10:30 AM.

• Please pack a nut-free snack and a water bottle.

• We are a peanut and nut-free school for the safety of all students.

School Closures

• We follow the general school calendar for holidays and breaks.

• Closures for Portuguese holidays or inclement weather will be determined by the school and communicated to families in a timely manner.
