Branding vs. Brand

A brand is the product or service. Branding is the act of creating a name, symbol, or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products.

Brand Personality: A strong brand has a personality that resonates with its audience.

Brand Equity: The worth of your brand.

Brand components include:

  • Logo: A symbol or other design adopted by an organization to identify its products, uniforms, vehicles, etc.
  • Colour palette: Colours consistently used to make a product/company more identifiable
  • Typography: A typeface or more popularly as a 'font-family' showcased in a company’s materials
  • Graphic/icon: Parts of logo’s made to fit in squares ('quadratic') for letterhead etc.
  • Tagline: A brief phrase that is closely allied with a company name or brand
  • Jingle: A short song or tune used in advertising and for other commercial uses
