Artist statement

My practice is currently based in drawing however this manifests in a variety of different ways. I am a multimedia artist and tend to use found objects, fabric, paint and charcoal.

I usually allow myself to be led and informed by the process when making. I have learned that a lot of the time the tactile experience of the means is often overlooked by a preconceived end. My work tends to exhibit the outcome of an intuitive process rather than planning ahead. Openness to chance and failure can make the process painful but a lot more interesting.

My work tends to navigate around ideas about materiality whether it is that of our own bodies or the matter that we interact with on a day to day basis. I believe that everything is ever changing and the rejection, distortion and breaking down of forms can often embody that experience.
