She is my Cooperation Teacher during my time in SLU-LES and I call her as Ma'am Pasayan. She is the classroom teacher in Grade 5 Section St. Thomas Aquinas. She teaches Science, Music, and Art in grade 5.
Ma'am Pasayan is a very kind person. She is someone who really cares about her students and she's also a very disciplined teacher. Ma'am Pasayan is a person I respect, he always helps me if I have problems and difficulties while I am there. She also always tells me if I'm doing something wrong and always gave me advice. She always asked me how I was doing and wished me the best to be ready for the students who were very enthusiastic about learning.
While I was observing in Grade 5 Section St. Thomas Aquinas, I noticed that before the students enter the class, they will line up neatly outside the classroom coordinated by the class leader. After the teacher arrives and opens the classroom door, they will enter the class room. Then, Prayer Leader will guide the other classmates to pray. During the lesson, the students were very disciplined and did not make any noise. They followed the lesson actively even though the lesson was more teacher-centered. In a day, students can study ten to twelve subjects.Â
During the observation, I did not only observed the teaching and the learning activities of teacher and student, but I also became a teacher's assistant who helped the teacher such as taking the student who were sick to the clinic, making sure the class was conducive when the teacher was not in the class, guiding the students to various learning places such as the computer lab, garden, library, etc. I was also asked to help decorate the classroom with Ma'am Pasayan.
There were many things that amazed me during my observation at this school. Firstly, most of the students have neat and beautiful handwriting, which is probably because there is a Writing subject that trains their writing skills. Secondly, the students are enthusiastic in learning despite having to study many subjects in a day. Thirdly, the students love to read, especially during Library lessons, they look very enthusiastic.
In addition, the students at this school are very lovely, especially the Grade 5 Section St. Thomas Aquinas. They always ask me about Indonesia. They are very curious about Indonesia (so cutee). They even gave me a letter that they wrote themselves in Indonesian Language. The also gave me snacks and other gifts at the recess time. I love them so much.
