Clap Finder helps you find your phone by clapping, whistling or saying Marco!, and can sound an alarm if someone moves your phone. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: sound is never recorded or sent anywhere, we dont sell any data, and the free version shows ads from Google AdMob.
Microphone
When you turn listening on, the app uses the microphone to recognise claps, whistles and the code word Marco!. Sound is analysed on your phone, in real time, and is immediately discarded. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere. Listening runs only while you have switched it on, and Android shows a notification the whole time. To tell claps from other noises, the app uses Googles YAMNet sound-recognition model, which runs entirely on your phone.
Marco! voice pack
If you turn on the Marco! code word, the app downloads an offline speech model (about 41 MB) once. After that, speech recognition happens entirely on your phone. Nothing you say leaves your device.
Motion, proximity and charger sensors
The anti-theft alarms (dont-touch, pocket and unplug) and the protection against false alarms use your phones motion and proximity sensors and its charging state. This information is used on your phone only, while those features are on, and is not stored or shared.
Camera flash and vibration
The flashlight and vibration are used only to help you find your phone when the alarm rings. The camera is never used to take pictures or video.
Information the app itself collects
The app has no account and no sign-in, and we do not collect your name, email, contacts or precise location. To load its settings (for example how often ads appear and which prices are shown in your country), the app uses Google Firebase Remote Config. Each time it checks for new settings (at most once an hour), it sends Google a random installation ID created by Firebase, the app version and your phones language and time zone; Google works out your country from the internet connection. This is used only to deliver these settings and is deleted when you uninstall the app. Your own settings (such as chosen sound and sensitivity) are stored only on your phone.
App usage statistics
To learn which features people use and improve the app, Clap Finder uses Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC). It records events in the app, such as opening it, starting or stopping listening, previewing or choosing a sound, opening the Pro or Remove ads screens, and completed purchases with their price. Each event is sent with the random Firebase installation ID, your phone model, Android version, app version, language and approximate country. It never includes sound, your name, email or precise location, and we look at it only as totals. Google processes it under Google's privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and keeps user-level data for a limited time (2 months by default). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the consent choice you make in the app also controls whether this data may be used for advertising. Purchase totals are also used to measure our ad campaigns. If the app crashes or hits an error, Google Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) sends a crash report with the technical details of the error, your phone model, Android version, app version and the random Firebase installation ID, so we can fix it. Crash reports never include sound or personal information.
Advertising
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC). To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob collects your phones advertising ID, your approximate location (from your internet connection), how you interact with ads, and crash and diagnostic information, and processes them under Googles privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Settings, Privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phones Android settings. Buying Clap Finder Pro or Remove ads turns off ads.
Purchases
Clap Finder Pro and Remove ads are sold through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles the payment; we do not receive or store your payment details. The app only checks with Google Play which products you own.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
