Working with experts from the Society of Rheology, I am developing tutorials for social media on creating fake blood, scar tissue, bruises, and other gore for Halloween 2026. Instead of using products from the store or recipes online, I am going to experts on how to develop their own materials that deform and flow like the real thing.

Rheology: the branch of physics that deals with the deformation and flow of matter, especially the non-Newtonian flow of liquids and the plastic flow of solids. Besides color, rheology is what makes blood, scar tissue, and other prothetics seem more realistic.Â
