Purpose: Activities and reflection help students connect with the material and become engaged in the topics covered. These interactive assignments will help build your critical thinking and informed opinions on often controversial issues in corrections.
Task: Each week, you will have various interactivities to complete. Each interactivity will include watching videos, completing Kahoot activities, and/or finding information from websites/news articles. There are 21 interactivities total divided by topic. Some interactivities will take longer to complete than others, they are not all equal.
You will be given a series of questions to answer in relation to the content. These questions will be content-focused and reflective. There is no word count minimum or anything like that. Most questions you can answer in 1-2 complete sentences.
Most interactivities will end with a summary question, "Overall, what did you think of this interactivity?" I'm looking for your honest feedback. What did you like about it? What did you dislike? Did any videos/activities or statistics/information surprise you? Was any of the material confusing? Do you have any questions for me?
Responses must be typed and submitted via Blackboard in the submission box or uploaded in Microsoft Word format.
Criteria for Success: You must complete all the questions on the assignment for full credit. Incomplete assignments will receive partial credit. Each interactivity is worth between 10-25 points depending on the video length/amount of work.
Sure, you could Google the answers. However, they might be slightly off from the material in the interactivities. Your answers must match up with the content in the Modules. I created the mini-lectures myself and included other videos to highlight individuals' first-hand experience with the correctional system. Incorrect answers will receive zero or partial credit.
Interactivities are due each Sunday 11:59pm.
