Background

Elise Petrikov was born before the Mushroom War, being 8 years younger than her older brother, Simon. Elise grew up in a very strict and traditional household. Her father was very authoritative while her mother was more meek and let her husband lead the family. Growing up, Elise was much closer to her paternal grandmother Marshalia, who instilled a lot of Elise's beliefs such as her belief that something unfamiliar was something familiar seen from a different angle. Sadly, Marshalia became terminally ill when Elise was in her pre-teens. Elise was there for her grandmother when she passed away with the memory of seeing a family member she loved dying in front of her deeply affecting her.

Because of her strict upbringing, she rebelled against her parents during her teen years. After graduating high school, she began to attend college where she was planning on getting her degree to become a teacher. It was during her sophomore year that she met Hunson Abadeer at a party. They two hit it off and dated for a while. During her senior year, Elise discovered that she was pregnant…with Hunson as the father. 

After finding out that she was pregnant with a demon’s child, her parents became enraged and initially demanded that she terminate the pregancy. After refusing to do so, Elise's parents immediately disowned her and kicked her out onto the street with her belongings. Without her parents paying her tuition, Elise had no choice but to drop out. Feeling slightly guilty that he put her in this situation, Hunson began financially supporting her. She gave birth to Marceline around 9 months later. For Marcy’s early life, Elise did most of the child-rearing. Hunson pops in from time to time, but he’s absent for the most part. Elise secretly wishes that Hunson would make more of an effort to be a part of his daughter’s life. A year after Marceline was born, Elise found out that she was pregnant with their second child. Unfortunately, something went wrong the child died shortly after she was born.

A year following this, she discovered she was pregnant again. With the Mushroom War looming, Elise isn’t sure that she’ll live long enough to raise the baby on the way, so she reaches out to Hunson. After telling him that she was pregnant with his third second child, they make a deal: when the time comes, he is going to take this baby and raise it. She made him promise that he was going to take care of this baby, keep her safe, and make sure that this baby was loved. In a few months, Elise gives birth. To her and Hunson's suprise, Elise ends up giving birth to twins. Despite this, they decided to stick to their deal. Elise named the baby girl after her grandmother Marshalia, but both she and Hunson began to call her Marsha for short, and named the baby boy Damian, despite Hunson wanting to name the boy Hunson Jr. For the first few months of her life, Elise goes back to being the one to mostly raise both the twins and Marceline. 

But when the twins was only a few months old, the bomb dropped. While Marceline remained fine, Elise slowly began to get sick. Remembering how she watched her grandmother get sicker and sicker, Elise began to hide her illness from her two daughters. Knowing that her time was limited, Elise sent the twins to live with their father while she began to journey to a bomb shelter so she could drop Marceline off there. Halfway through the journey, Elise’s health rapidly declined. Not wanting Marceline to see her die, Elise sent Marceline ahead to the bomb shelter. Using the last of her strength, she leaves an audio recording for Marceline…a recording that Marceline didn’t hear until hundreds of years later.

1,000 years later, Elise is back through means still unknown. Upon waking up in the same place she died, Elise made her way through the badlands and into the Land of Ooo. She hopes she can find her children again.
