Civic Involvement is contributing and working to make a difference in the public (or civic) life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and commitment to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community and solving public problems, through both political and non-political processes.

  • COVID-19 Get Your Vaccination — Operation Vaccinate the Peninsula

    • The Virginia Department of Health’s Peninsula and Hampton Health Districts is hosting a state-run Covid-19 Community Vaccination Clinic in Newport News at 13785 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, (in the Sherwood Shopping Center). The clinic is offering booster shots of all three available vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

    • The clinic runs Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged. Visit vaccinate.virginia.gov to schedule an appointment or call 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682, TTY users call 7-1-1). Anyone who has received a prior Covid-19 vaccine should bring their vaccine card or vaccine record with a QR code. For a copy of your vaccine record, visit vaccinate.virginia.gov .
