Starting Wars
When a King or General places a non white banner in the wilderness near a town, the war begins. .
This is a Siege Banner.
This action will begin a new siege at the town.
Each nation can have a maximum of 3 offensive sieges at a time.
The nation deposits $20 per plot into a War Chest:
This money will be automatically recovered later, by the eventual winner of the siege.
Preparing For Battle
You can declare war on any day and then the war will happen the following day at 7 PM UTC.

On the day of the battle, wait for the Battle Session to begin:
Each battle session lasts 1 hour and begins at 3PM EST.

Peacefulness
Because wars operate on a nation vs. town system, towns must be peaceful for those who are not interested in war. New towns automatically get siege protection, but must enable peacefulness by running the command /sw town togglepeaceful.
Dragon egg

If your town/nation has the dragon egg, you can be warred at any time and if you lose the war you lose the dragon egg. The dragon egg gives the nation 10k a day.
