Athletic Event Production

WHAT IS IT?

The Citytri Event Xperience is an opportunity for young people to learn about the world of athletic event production. This world is exciting but tough and it provides anyone willing to join with a chance to learn about the basics for all event production. In other words, this experience can be applied to non-athletic events as well.

The Citytri Event Xperience is completed through one of NYC's premier running organizations, Citytri Runs, and 15 half marathons that are produced in the NYC area each year. Each event brings hundreds of adult amature runners together to race 13.1 Miles through some of the most historic parks in the area.

Citytri Event Xperience participants will learn prior to each event about how an event is created, marketed, and produced. During each event the participant will learn how to organize and establish a venue and initiate an outdoor event in under two hours. They will learn customer service skills in an environment that is both challenging in time and conditions.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

High School and Community College Students looking for meaningful resume worthy experiences. Students who are good communicators (can easily speak up at home, with friends, or at school), have an interest and capacity to learn about customer service and basic event production are invited to apply.

Additionally, students who can focus on a specific responsibility and can work on their own and with a team are preferable. Team skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations are also important.

The pre and post event responsibilities will require online communication and possibly some use of online tools. If students have skills in this area it is important that they share this information. Event day responsibilities require arriving at the venue, rain or shine, at 6 AM and that they remain until 1 PM. During that time students will be required to take on event day responsibilities related to the management of participants, media, and the course. All participants are required to complete 5 events over a 12 month period. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
