Who are the sa?

CitySA is the College's Students’ Association: we are run for and by students and governed by the Student Parliament. Our role is to ensure that the student voice is represented to staff across the College and at all levels of seniority. This includes having an SA presence at Working Groups, Committees and the Board of Management. The student voice drives our Strategic Plan (every 3 years) and Operational Plan (every year).

The SA also works to ensure a positive student experience within and outwith the classroom, for example:

As soon as you enrol with the College, and providing you are aged 16 or over, you are automatically a member of the Students’ Association. This means you have constant representation throughout the year and can apply for our volunteer roles and paid positions.

Everything we do is measured against the Framework for the Development of Strong and Effective College Students' Associations in Scotland, a best practice tool for Students’ Associations across the country

why work with us?

To improve student life: The core aim of the SA is to improve the student experience by making your voices heard by staff. Whether you're leading a society or sports club, or gathering feedback as a Class Rep, your role will make a real and positive difference to student life at College.

To improve your own employability: SA roles are a great addition to your CV. Speak to your point of contact in the SA and the Careers team about how to leverage your experience for job applications. If you are a Class Rep or Society Convenor, you can also log your activities through our Volunteering Hub. This will generate a set of skills and examples that you can use on CVs and cover letters when applying for jobs.

Make connections: Your colleagues at the SA can become both friends and great connections for your future career. Training, conferences and events are invaluable for networking with new people: keep an eye on your email for invitations.

our partners

We work closely with the College to improve the student experience. Take a look at our Student Partnership Agreement for more information about how we do this.

We also work with influential partners outside the College such as:

training & support

We offer a full timetable of training opportunities throughout the year: keep an eye on your email for invitations to workshops such as Mental Health First Aid, Running Effective Meetings, and Group Work Facilitation Skills.

Code of Conduct

CitySA has its own Code of Conduct which all Students’ Association representatives must abide by.

It is your responsibility to make yourself aware of the standards set out in this Code and to adhere to these at all times. If in doubt, speak to the SA Co-ordinator.
