Three components work together to prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities:
ENGLISH INSTRUCTION
Access to an english tutor in and out of class
Priority when visiting their Supplemental Instructor tutor at the English Center
MATH
Tutoring support with professor
COUNSELING
Work closely with a Puente counselor and enroll in two consecutive Personal Growth classes: PERG 120 (College Success) and PERG 130 (Career and Life Planning)
MENTORING
Mentors share with the students how they managed to succeed in the educational system, how they succeed as professionals while maintaining their cultural identity, and how they now balance family, career and community related activities. Mentors also provide guidance and resources for student assignments and projects.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Exemplifying a culture of community, motivation and achievement
Visit multiple campuses throughout California
Student participation in the Puente Club
Fund-raising and community service opportunities at the local level
On-campus guest speakers from professional and civic communities
