CityOwl is your vehicle’s alarm and notification system that deters burglars and thieves, watching over your car when you are not around. It's easily mounted onto your dashboard or windshield, continuously monitoring the environment around your car while it's parked. CityOwl will instantly alert you with a text message when an alarm is triggered.

OWL can be configured to automatically arm itself as you walk-away from your car and then disarm itself on approach when you are carrying your smartphone. That way you won't have to pull out the phone every time you need to arm or disarm the device.

Mounting and Installation

We engineered OWL to be self-installed in under 15 minutes without altering or rewiring your vehicle in any way. You can use magnetic mount to quickly snap the device onto the dashboard or windshield when leaving your vehicle. For a more permanent installation, OWL can be mounted onto your air vent using a screw-on system or directly onto the dashboard using strong adhesive tape. The device can be constantly powered by provided OBD-II cable (available on most cars) in which case you would never have to worry about running out of battery and leave your car protected for long periods of time. Alternatively, you can charge OWL with your a car's built-in USB port while driving and have your vehicle protected for about 14 hours on full charge. The device is light and portable so you can always take it with you when you travel and mount it in a rental car using a magnetic mount.

Ongoing Developments

We are working with an industrial designer to create a molded enclosure and improve look and feel of the device over our original 3D printed prototypes. On the software side, we are working on delivering over-the-air (OTA) updates to the device and improving auto-arming and disarming features. We are also fine-tuning our signal processing algorithm to reduce false-positives due to high wind and heavy snow.

Free Replacements

Worried about criminals smashing windows and ripping out and destroying OWL? We believe a warning alert will scare away all but the most ruthless burglars who will be bombarded with a very loud police siren if they proceed to smash windows or pry the door open. If an intruder pulls out the power cable or starts tempering with the device, OWL will continue to operate on battery and immediately push alert notification to the owner’s phone.

We will replace your OWL for FREE if it's destroyed during burglary. You must provide a police report from the incident and a photo with a serial number of the destroyed device).
