Roswell's safety action plan will provide a strategy to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries in the city.
Through grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, the City of Roswell is creating a Safety Action Plan to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries. This plan will identify and prioritize goals for a five-to-ten-year period in Roswell. Inclusive and representative processes will be used to create a plan that advances equity for underserved populations that have historically faced barriers to safe transportation.
Objectives will be developed towards the goal of eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
Crash data (i.e. the locations, severity, and contributing factors of crashes) will be gathered to identify potential improvement areas.
Feedback from the public, stakeholders, and the private sector will be incorporated into planning to allow for community representation and engagement.
Underserved communities will be identified through geospatial analysis and taken into consideration for proposed projects and strategies.
Current policies and plans will be reviewed to identify opportunities to improve how processes prioritize transportation safety.
Projects and strategies will be selected based on public feedback, equity considerations, and safety problems identified. The selected projects will then be prioritized based on need.
Progress will be measured, and plans will be updated as the project progresses to ensure continued transparency with the public.
