WELCOME TO BEARDSLEY, MINNESOTA!
Our small town is located on the Continental Divide in Big Stone County!
William W. Beardsley lived in New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin before he took advantage of the prospect of free, fruitful Minnesota land offered by the Homestead Act. He picked a spot in Browns Valley Township in April 1878 and formally settled it on May 25, 1878. When the St. Cloud & Lake Traverse Railway Company (later incorporated into the Great Northern Railroad) built a branch line from Morris, Mr. Beardsley opted to plat a townsite to serve as a shipping point for the railroad.
Beardsley has been incorporated as a village since 1891.
