AP stands for the Associated Press, which is a news agency. AP style guidelines are widely used by journalists. The latest edition of the AP stylebook is the 2019 edition.
Unlike for MLA, APA, and Chicago citations, AP guidelines don't ask you to include in-text citations or footnotes. Instead, you should include information about your sources in the actual wording of the sentence.

- When you're referencing a person, use their full name (including their title). After that, just use their last name.
- When you're referencing an article, include (1) the author's name, (2) the article's title, (3) the date it was published, and (4) the website/newspaper/journal/etc. where it was published in the sentence. After you name these things the first time, you can just use the author's last name throughout the rest of your piece.
- AP style has standardized abbreviations and ways of reporting addresses, ages, dates, etc. Refer to the resources below for info about how to use these standards.
