Hello! I work @ home and I use a landline dial pad/phone and I recently purchased a pair of Cisco 500 series binaural headphones/headset with a boom mic. They are quick disconnect and they plug into my dail pad with a male RJ plug. I use Avaya to connect my calls through my computer, but my dial pad is not connected to my computer in any way...well except for Avaya. My headset does not work at all. I can't hear anything and no one can hear me either. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to purchase more Cisco equipment because I'm about to go broke buying all of this stuff...lol.

Today, Cisco Headsets are deployed in government, healthcare, financial, and legal organizations that have some of the most stringent privacy and security policies. However, due to outstanding security threats, Bluetooth headsets have yet to be adopted in corporations and Federal agencies that handle classified information. Demand for wireless devices are growing at fast rate in this sector and these agencies are turning to Cisco to build Bluetooth headsets that have the highest level of security requirements and features in the market today (e.g. restricting pairing to only devices provided by employer or requiring a unique pin to pair to devices).

Headset firmware is encrypted by Cisco with AES 128 bit key and only verified images can be installed. There is also no provision to bypass this protection. This ensures the integrity of the firmware and minimizes the possibility of any malicious code installation.

Apart from verifying the installed firmware, the Headset 730 is also validated at every single boot process using its AES-CCM digest. This ensures the device is authentic and unmodified even if adversaries get physical access to the device. This feature is also enabled by default and there is no provision to bypass or disable.

I found this in another post from #sslominski:

 -devices/after-update-of-headset-730-i-have-an-intermittend-beeping-sound/m-p/4635906

"just realized that this beeping sound on my 730 is caused by automatic volume adjustment under Audio settings in Webex app...

disabled this option and the beeping is gone"

I'll try this...

I'd like to be able to use the headset AND adjust volume without any beeping, even in Webex Meetings, preferably wireless. Any fixes, or is that working intentionally? Why would you want to hear a beeping whenever changing volume?

I replaced the headset with another HS 730, which is still on firmware version 1-7-0-141, compared to the old one which has the above stated issues and is up to date on 1-11-0-165. The above described issues are not occuring on the other headset with the older firmware.

I also remember that I didn't have the issues on my old headset before I updated the firmware, so it's totally not an issue bound to hardware (neither headset nor notebook, drivers etc.), but rather a HS 730 firmware issue.

Cisco entered the headset market in March with a wired headset targeted at contact center agents. The vendor expanded its portfolio this week with the release of two wireless Cisco headsets, as well as two additional wired models.

Cisco has historically relied on partnerships with vendors including Plantronics and Jabra to provide customers with headsets that integrate with their IP phones and UC apps. The vendor will continue to support those partners, even as it competes against them with its new Cisco headsets.

IT administrators have begun demanding more of headset vendors -- better troubleshooting controls, in particular -- as the devices have emerged as a primary interface for connecting to UC apps, said Irwin Lazar, analyst at Nemertes Research, based in Mokena, Ill.

"Ultimately, [Cisco is] viewing the headset as an extension of a UC platform and they are a little more reluctant to give that to a third party," Lazar said. Cisco will be able to add AI and other advanced features to the headsets in the future, he said.

Businesses can manage their Cisco headsets through Cisco Unified Communications Manager, which includes controls for updating firmware, monitoring usage and diagnosing problems. Plantronics Manager Pro and Jabra Xpress give businesses similar remote management capabilities.

The two wireless Cisco headsets have ranges of 300 feet and their earpieces light up to indicate that a call is in progress. The new wired models give users the option of connecting using a USB adapter or a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

Professional headset manufacturers made a combined $1.23 billion in sales last year, with revenues in that market expected to grow at an average annual rate of 8% through 2024, according to research by Frost & Sullivan.

Besides the headsets, Cisco released a new video codec for boardrooms and auditoriums. The Cisco Webex Room Kit Pro, which replaces the Cisco SX80 Codec, includes six concurrent video inputs, three 4K video outputs, and eight microphones.

The Cisco Headset 560 Series is a range of wireless DECT business headsets that connect to desk IP phones, soft-phones, or mobile devices. This video helps you understand what is wireless DECT and provides guidance on deploying the Cisco Headset 560.
