Basketball Data Analytics Battles: former Simpson professor runs an analytics competition based on the collegiate basketball championships. This is a fun way to engage students with math and computer science.
The NCWIT/NCWIT Aspirations In Computing Award is given out by NCWIT, which is a national organization designed to recognize and celebrate women in technology. The AiC award is awarded to high school girls both on a national and state level and provides incredible networking opportunities and role models. Applications are open now, and are due at the end of November! NICERC provides free STEM and computer science/cyber security curricula. I am working with Joel (NW Iowa CSP facilitator) to bring them back again this year for workshops in late January. The idea would be to host workshops in western and eastern Iowa this year and reach more teachers. We'll share details when we know dates and details.
Over 2,500 6-12 grade students have experienced computer science through the 2018-19 cohort so far this year!
