FOR CREDIT CLASSES

The Circle of Learning  grant provides no-cost registration and continuing education credits to BSSD educators according to the guidelines below. 

EDUCATORS MAY ENROLL IN ONE CLASS PER SEMESTER AND A MAXIMUM OF THREE PER CALENDAR YEAR. That means one fall semester, one spring semester, and one during the summer (as long as you are contracted to be employed by BSSD in the following fall). WEBINARS WITH OPTIONAL CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT

The Circle of Learning grant and GEAR UP provide no-cost registration and continuing education credits for Alaska Staff Development Network webinars to educators employed by BSSD. • ABOUT CirCle of Learning •

The Circle of Learning grant partners work together to support student achievement and access to remote learning. Emphasis is on 

Project Objectives: 

1. To support students to achieve academic success.

2. To increase the school climate and social-emotional wellness of students.

3. To increase student cultural awareness, self-identity and Inupiat/Yup’ik Language skills.

4. To increase the percentage of students enrolling into postsecondary education.

Project Activities include: Summer School, Project Lead the Way, Alaska Native Science and Engineering, Professional Development, Social Emotional Learning, Second Step, SEL Counselors, Developing Yup’ik Curriculum, Cultural Gatherings, Elders Storytelling, Exploring Self-Identity, College Readiness Assessments, College Awareness Events, College Campus Visits, Academic Planning & Advising, College Planning/Financial Aid, College Planning/Admissions.


This project is funded by an Alaska Native Education Program grant from the US Department of Education. The grantee is the Bering Strait School District. The Circle of Learning grant is a partnership between Bering Strait School District, the Alaska Staff Development Network and RGI Research Corporation.
