Controlling individual atoms and ions
Looking Motivated Student and Project Staff with a good academic record, funded by NQM-Quantum Computing Mission. Please contact S R Chanu with detail CV with your research statement. Advertisement.
Currently, we are primarily in the process of building a quantum computer based on a trapped ion system under the National Quantum Mission, India 2024. We are setting up an experimental Laboratory to cool and trap calcium ions for quantum simulation, computations, and precision measurements. We plan to deliver 99.9% fidelity for state preparation and measurement of the single qubit gate and 99% MS entangle two qubit gate. Another very interesting notion is to explore the possibility of building a higher-dimensional qudits gate using trapped ions, both theoretically and experimentally.
We are also interested in exploring cold atoms and vapor cell-based quantum technologies in metrology and sensors development of national importance. Second harmonic generation of light and interaction of quantum squeezed state with matter are also research areas looking extensively for development in quantum technology using quantum phenomena. Some of our ongoing efforts include building and designing of ultra-high Vacuum chamber for trapping ions and cold atoms. We also developed control electronics in-house, which includes CW diode lasers, current drivers, mechanical housing assembly, control electronics like piezo driver, temperature stabilisation system with mKelvin stability, optical mounts, and ultra high vacuum chamber design, etc.
We are in a very exciting stage of laboratory development where every motivated individual will be trained in the hands-on skills for quantum technologies using cold atoms, ions and vapor cell More details can be found in Publications, Teams and Research.
