In all honesty, I wasn’t looking forward to seeing this movie at all. From what I read online before seeing it, I was expecting a slow moving, terribly cheesy detective film with a boring plot. I went into this movie expecting it to be awful, but this movie blew me away. From start to finish, this movie was full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. It’s fascinating story line, interesting characters, and endless plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
While overall this movie was great, I do have to take points off for Daniel Craig’s cringe worthy southern accent and somewhat cheesiness of his character, Detective Benoit Blanc, at many times throughout the movie. Compared to the other characters, it almost seemed as if Craig’s character was aware that he was in a detective movie, and it often times seemed like he had more quirks than the other characters.
One theme that was very prevalent in this movie was that of family. From one character doing their best to protect their family to another dealing with many different issues within their own family, one key thing I took away from the movie was this: Family is more than just blood.
Overall, I would highly recommend this movie. With it lacking explicit content, this movie is great for middle schoolers to older people. It has something for everyone and is a very enjoyable movie.
