And into Cine Tracer. I spent the first few hours playing around, getting my bearings. Cine Tracer is built with Unreal Engine and inherits its game like control. I'm not a game guy but it didn't take long to get comfortable. Moving around, building basic sets, creating lights etc is straightforward - but I don't want this to turn into a review (there are plenty of those around already). After some experimentation here's what I came up with,

For lighting I used the inbuilt sun/sky setup. It was tricky as the skylight doesn't shadow and there is no light bounce. I faked it as best I could using a light bank instead of bounce and just a small amount of sky to fill in the shadows.

Now to the camera. As I was matching an existing setup it was easiest to place the "free camera" rather than be constrained by a tripod or camera operator. We shot the short with anamorphic lenses on 5219 film stock pushed 2 stops and I believe this particular shot was 100mm (we lost logs for our first afternoon of shooting!). Cine Tracer doesn't seem to have an anamorphic option so I set the crop to 2.40 with a 50mm lens to get the correct FOV. The result seems to be that the DOF is incorrect. I'm also not sure about the exposure, I dialed the iris and ISO so it looked reasonable.

One thing I'm pretty used to doing is being able to monitor the camera while making changes. Unfortunately Cine Tracer currently lacks this ability, which can make it slow to adjust things for camera, you are constantly jumping in and out of the camera to see what it looks like. I hope we'll see this feature in a future update.

To sum up, I found Cine Tracer brilliantly simple and perfect for experimentation. It has some rough edges but it is being actively developed so will only get better. I also feel Cine Tracer could be a great tool for teaching CG lighters about real world cinematography, help keep them grounded in reality.

Long time no see but i felt i have to make this post because this software deserves it, as you know, anything that can speed up our work and knowledge about lighting is highly recommended. I found it highly valuable for production as well as for educational purposes. A great tool for cinematographers and photographers. Btw the best justification to buy a Nvidia RTX GPU :p

Post House Creative is a full-service video production and animation boutique based in Columbus, Ohio. They combine award-winning creative talent and deep marketing expertise to help their clients take their vision from paper to pixels.

On a recent project for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Post House Creative had an opportunity to try something new with their clients. Instead of the usual style frames, storyboarding, and animatics, they went with a hybrid video game/app based on the Unreal Engine called Cine Tracer.

Cine Tracer is a realistic cinematography simulator that allows a user to build, stage, and capture scenes in stunning real-world environments using industry-standard lighting, rigging, and camera setups.

The shoot required building a set on ice in the middle of a hockey rink, and with Cine Tracer, they were able to create and stage the set to scale to show the client exactly how much space it was going to take.

The project generated 1.5TB of footage during production. Everything was shot in 4K on a RED Epic Dragon and Scarlet Mysterium using a variety of Canon L and Fujinon lenses, with a DIT backing up RED mags to portable storage that they brought back to the studio and offloaded to their EVO 16 Bay shared storage video server.

The studio houses four primary edit suites, two upgraded Mac Pros, and two Windows workstations. There are four full-time Premiere editors and motion graphics artists, and up to ten people accessing projects and footage at any given time.

Before centralizing their storage and media management, they were always duplicating files. Projects would often span multiple hard drives, making it impossible to keep track of all of their project versions and linked media.

Technology is rapidly transforming the way we create media. Previz, the cloud, and high-speed shared storage are giving studios more ways than ever to increase efficiency in their workflows. But for Post House Creative, choosing the right tools is about more than just efficiency.

For ten years, I was a cinematographer in New York doing hip-hop and metal videos. Before that, I considered being a drummer. I grew up in Boston, went to Berklee College of Music camps for jazz, but never made that jump. I wanted to pursue music, but also to put filmmaking and computer science together.

Provided that you have at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card you can play the game. Furthermore, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is recommended in order to run Cine Tracer with the highest settings. Cine Tracer system requirements state that you will need at least 8 GB of RAM. If possible, make sure your have 32 GB of RAM in order to run Cine Tracer to its full potential. You will need at least 15 GB of free disk space to install Cine Tracer. An Intel Core i5-12400T CPU is required at a minimum to run Cine Tracer. However, the developers recommend a CPU greater or equal to an Intel Core i7-610 to play the game.

How many FPS will I get on Cine Tracer? An FPS Monitor is the first step in understanding how the parts in your gaming PC are actually performing in real-world conditions. It's the perfect way to track Cine Tracer FPS drops and stutters.

Download our free FPS Monitor via Overwolf to count your frame rates as you play, and test how tweaks to your settings can boost FPS and increase Cine Tracer performance. Our app is compatible with hundreds of the best PC games and available now.

Cine Tracer is a realistic cinematography simulator. The player operates real world based cameras, sets up lights, and directs talent/actors in stunning next gen environments created in Unreal Engine 4.

Cine Tracer is a real time cinematography simulator made with the Unreal engine. It gives the user control of real world based cameras and lights to visualize realistic scenes and capture them to storyboards. It is still in an early release version and it is available for purchase on Steam. New features and bug fixes are being added with frequent updates.

Creating a nice storyboard for a film project can be a challenge. There are some simple apps out there to help with that, like Boardfish or Wonder unit storyboarder. If, however, you would like to create more realistic storyboards and also practice lighting and scene building, you might want to try Cine Tracer.

Cine Tracer was created by Matt Workman of Cinematography Database. Matt is a cinematographer who worked in NYC for 10 years shooting mostly music videos and commercials. In 2014, he started Cinematography Database and began to create previsualization software for cinematographers and to create content online.

The first version of Cine Tracer was released more than one year ago and Matt is adding new updates and features quite often. The game is still in its early release, so features are added and removed as development continues. It is currently available for both Windows PC and MacOS.

The game is still in an Early Release stage. That means it is still an unfinished version, it can include some bugs and even crash at times. It is publicly available already though, so the community can support and participate in its development. The full version will have a larger database of maps/levels, equipment, talent, and sets. The current Early Release has the basic cameras, lighting, and talent systems in place with one medium sized map to explore and build in. According to the developer, more maps are coming soon.

The latest update from December 2019 is version 0.51. The update adds some new Prefabs for building a restaurant or subway scene and it fixes some bugs. There is a walkthrough of the new features on the Cine Tracer Youtube channel:

A new Unreal Engine port of Cinema 4D plugin Cine Designer

Cine Tracer began life as Cinema 4D plugin called Cine Designer, designed to enable cinematographers to visualise real-world camera shoots.

For indie film-makers, it offers the possiblity of carrying out fairly detailed previs work, blocking out shots by creating digital representations of real-world sets using stock 3D characters and props.

Pricing and system requirements

Cine Tracer 0.33 is available for Windows 10 and macOS 10.13+. To use real-time ray tracing, you will need to be working on Windows and have a suitable Nvidia GPU.

Scintigraphic evaluation of the heart function is performed by means of sequential camera scintigraphy following i.v. injection of a 99mTc albumin bolus. The first tracer passage is registered during 30 seconds. About 10 minutes later--after equilibration of the tracer in the blood pool--volume curves of the left ventricle are recorded from a series of about 500 heart cycles. The principles of a computer program which has been developed for this method are described and discussed in detail. 152ee80cbc
