Bedroom Frequencies is a VR experience that immerses audiences in the biographical narrative of a young girl growing up in a strict and violent household. Restricted from going out, socialising, or attending mixed-gender spaces, and faced with hostility at home, she found refuge in her small bedroom. Here, she discovered a safe sense of freedom, performing in front of the mirror, synchronising body and sound, glitching her narrative to confront trauma and isolation. It was a space for imagination and dreaming, where she crafted stories of joy, love and passion, hoping one day her inner life could shape a different reality.
Bedroom Frequencies explores solitude, bravery and vulnerability- a space where the mind can transcend walls and the restraints of the body, offering escape, and how imagination can be used to open vortexes into new worlds.
This virtual reality experience combines sound, light, texture, and movement, inviting audiences to use their cursor to freely explore the intimate interiors of imagination.
