Due to the shortage of PPE such as masks in stores, we need people that can sew masks! Please follow these specific instructions if you would like to do so. After reading the instructions and watching the video below, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
Mercy Health (who we are in contact with) put the video below on their blog for instructions on how to make filter pocket mask. We also have instructions for another mask that covers the nose but does not have pleats or a pocket. For any kind, it is recommended that the fabric is 100% cotton for the best breathability. Make sure to wash the fabric first, as it may shrink. It is important that you differientiate between the public facing side and the side that is against the face. Even if you are not using two different fabrics, sew something on the face side to make sure the healthcare workers stay safe (i.e. a small patch of fabric sewn at the bottom of the face side).
Mercy Health - West Park Senior Living also has an urgent need for masks, preferably unused, for all of their providers and patients.
It is also important to note that you do not need to provide the filter! We are only sewing a mask for the the hospitals to put one in themselves.
Not a seamstress? Head to the donate page to see how you can donate sewing supplies to those that are.
