The 21st CIDSM will be hosted by Masaryk University (Brno) from 9 to 11 June 2027.
The Comparative Italian Dialect Syntax-Morphology Meeting (CIDSM) aims to bring together dialectologists working on any aspect of the syntax and/or morphology of the dialects of Italy, including non-Romance varieties, and encourages all approaches – whether synchronic or diachronic, descriptive or theoretical (all frameworks) – to the regional languages and dialects spoken throughout Italy.
It started in Cambridge in 2006 and has been taking place yearly since, under the name of Cambridge Italian Dialect Syntax-Morphology Meeting from 2006 to 2024.
This year's meeting will also include a workshop entitled Italo-Romance languages in contexts of migration. This workshop focuses on research on Italo-Romance languages in multilingual contexts shaped by migration. We welcome contributions on heritage Italo-Romance varieties, the acquisition of Italo-Romance languages in migration contexts, and contact between Italo-Romance languages and other languages. We invite proposals on any aspect of the syntax and/or morphology of Italo-Romance languages in migrant communities, both in Italy and abroad.
